Project Description
Lakeside Estate Gardens
Good design coupled with appropriate planting and maintenance techniques will result in a garden that is a daily joy and a sustaining inspiration. If you desire a garden that truly reflects the spirit or your surroundings, it is important to chose plants that represent a native local provenance. However, if your preference is to have a more traditional garden that compliments your style, a larger range of plants is available that will flourish in a variety of conditions. These spaces are perfect for deciduous and evergreen shrubs, perennials and ground covers with smooth gleaming foliage to fine textured fronds that will complement anywhere. This dappled shade garden is a mix of traditional and native plants, and is the only garden sporting non-natives on this lakeside residence.
The homeowners of this Sherborn, MA property were committed to preserving the natural surroundings and increasing the habitat of local wildlife. Passing through this lakeside woodland garden, one will meander around the home and through the woods allowing family and friends to experience the intimacy and expansiveness of the forested understory. Pollinator friendly slopes, no mow yards, native understory plantings were designed to meet the commitment of the ecologically minded residents who wanted a water-wise and memorable experience in their landscape. A labyrinth garden was installed in memory of the beloved family dog.
